Jean C. Loyd, 71, of Columbus, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, April 21, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital South, Indianapolis.
Jean worked at the Imperial House earlier in her life and retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections as a corrections officer. She attended Columbus Baptist Church and enjoyed dancing and quilting.
Jean loved being with her daughter, Yvonne, and her grandchildren. They were her life.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street, with Pastor Chuck Kennedy officiating. Calling will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or the American Heart Association.

Born in Barren County, Ky., March 24, 1942, Jean was the daughter of Cecil C. and Della Harris Bragg.
She is survived by a daughter, Yvonne (Tom) Spilker, and grandsons, Kyle (Sarah Dozier) Fisette and Connor Streeval, all of Columbus; a sister, Margaret Huskisson, Bowling Green, KY; nephews, Gary and Victor Bragg and Mike Huskisson; and special nieces, Joyce Grillo, Regina Hodges, Pam Zimmerman, Anita Bethune, Beth Huskisson and Wilma Overfelt
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Willie L., Harold L., Earnest C., Ralph A. and James Bragg; and her companion, Joseph Komlosi.
