Bernice Marie Crouch, 83, of Laurel Drive, passed from this life at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Crouch had been a medical assistant at the Seibel Clinic in Nashville and was a senior nurse's aide at Bartholomew County Hospital. She retired in June 1982.

She moved to Patriot, IN, where she was a teacher's assistant at Patriot Christian Academy and a volunteer with activities at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus and was a teacher's assistant at the church preschool.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Columbus. She enjoyed traveling and camping.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Dr. Roger Wagner officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Born in Columbus May 5, 1929, Mrs. Crouch was the daughter of Christian and Irene Lawell Waldkoetter. She married William A. Crouch December 25, 1946. He preceded her in death September 12, 1997.

Survivors include daughters, Phillis (Charles) Fultz of Madison and Mary (Dr. Roger) Wagner of Old Fort, TN; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family, Clifton, Terry, Jim, Kevin, and Tim Gilpin, Mary Fisher, Norma Corum and Pam McClain.

Mrs. Crouch was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Katherine George; a twin sister, Beatrice Waldkoetter; sisters, Carolyn Armstrong, Selma Carter, Gladys Harris, Christine Bickel, and Verna Waldkoetter; and brothers, Chris, Nelson, and Joseph Waldkoetter
