John C. Ferguson, 77, of East State Road 7, died at 11:14 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Ferguson retired in 1988 from Ferguson's Shell in Walsboro. He was an Army veteran and a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Aaron Ferguson officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Center, Kentucky, December 31, 1925, Mr. Ferguson was the son of Stephan A. and Virgie Richardson Ferguson. He married Elra C. Chaney March 13, 1945.
Survivors include his wife; children, Larry (Linda) Ferguson, Mike (Becky) Ferguson and Elaine (Roger) Ott, all of Columbus; a sister, Virginia Thompson of Louisville; grandchildren, Lisa (Darryl) Kinchen of Florida, Shelley Newby of Columbus, Cassie (Jon) Myers of Nineveh, Aaron (Valerie) Ferguson of Seymour, Lynsey (Keith) Prior of Columbus and Clayton Ott (Lindsey Jones) of Columbus; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Ferguson.
