Jacob Cornelius Grabill, 77, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Grabill was born October 27, 1935, in Harrison County, Indiana, the son of Harry and Emma Alma Grabill. He married Sharon Kay Large November 11, 1957, in Harrison County, Indiana. She survives.
Mr. Grabill worked 30 years at Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, working in the tool crib and retiring from the shipping department in 1999. A lifelong watch and clock repairman, he was known as the “Watchmaker” and owned and operated Grabill’s Watch and Clock Repair in North Vernon.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Vernon and Diesel Workers Union. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
Mr. Grabill enjoyed tractors, watching westerns and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Grabill of North Vernon, Indiana; three daughters, Cindy (John) Kirkpatrick and Becky (Kevin) Heilman, both of North Vernon, Indiana, and Susan (Bob) Jones of Scipio, Indiana; three sisters, Kate (Charles) Johnson and Mae Crane, both of Corydon, Indiana, and Margaret Robson of Seymour, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Jones, Justin (Sandy) Fleenor, Ryan (Megan) Heilman, Steven (Kaylee) Heilman and Tyler Heilman, all of North Vernon, Indiana, Misty (Ryan) Bustle of Franklin, Indiana, and Daniel (Morgan) Jones of Ellettsville, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren, Jonothon Jones and Dakota Jones, both of Ellettsville, Indiana, Leah Marie Jones, Savanna Fleenor and Emma Heilman, all of North Vernon, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ellis.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, with the Rev. Marvin Sweet officiating. Friends may call at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.
