Charles A. Stater Sr., 78, of Edinburgh, died at 1:38 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.
Mr. Stater retired from Allied Signal where he had worked for 28 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening and playing with animals.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Jerald Turner officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until service time Friday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charity.

Born in Bartholomew County April 6, 1935, Mr. Stater was the son of Charles J. and Dona Leona Baker Stater. He married Betty A. Noles on October 2, 1956.
Survivors include his wife; children, Janice (Dave) Willin of Hope, Charles A. (Sharon) Stater Jr. of Columbus, Denise (Ken) Hatchett of Hope and Robert (Stacy) Stater of Columbus; a sister, Ruby (Vernal) Pruitt of Freetown; grandsons, Troy Willin of Hope, Travis Willin of Hope and Joshua (Kaitlyn) Colon of Florida; great-granddaughters, Caitlin Willin, Nicole Willin and Emma Colon; two stepgrandchildren; and and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orville Stater; sisters, Minnie Mobley, Edell Moore, Norma Jean Everroad and Clara Stater; half sisters, Freda Olmstead and Nancy Gates; and a half brother, Dee Stater.
