Howard W. Lickerman, 86, recently of Highland Park, IL, formerly of Columbus, IN, died Sunday, May 5, 2013. He was the loving husband of Carolyn (nee Adler) for 62 years; cherished father of David (Stephanie) Lickerman, Nancy (Stan) Cutter, Jo Anne (Gene) Gottfried; devoted grandfather of Andrew (Lauren) Halik, Zachary, Jared and Keric Lickerman, Katie Gottfried, and Barton (Megan) Cutter; dearest brother-in-law of Mary (George) Perlstein; adored uncle to Lee (Aaron) Schiller, Janet Perlstein (Avi Mizrachi), Margaret Perlstein (Alan Packer). Also surviving are dear family members, George Halik and Scott Wechsler, and many beloved cousins.
Mr. Lickerman was former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Regal Rugs Inc. in North Vernon, IN, and a former board member of Readicut International, UK, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Jennings County Community Hospital, and Bartholomew County Hospital Foundation. Howard gave generously of his time with Volunteers in Medicine, Score, and Agency on Aging.
Howard loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed sailing, computing, golfing, and photography. He was a terrific listener, a positive influence on everyone he came into contact with, and will be dearly missed by all.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel at 8851 Skokie Blvd., Skokie IL. (888-509-5011)
