Dortha L. Starnes, 88, of West Deaver Road, died at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Mrs. Starnes was a homemaker and formerly had worked at Wendy's on Jonathan Moore Pike.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and she loved her dog, Sugar.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Randy Burton officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Born in Cowan March 19, 1925, Mrs. Starnes was the daughter of Arlie H. and Dortha Young Jester. She married Carl E. Starnes March 27, 1942. He preceded her in death August 21, 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Sammie Jester of Norman; grandchildren, John (Peggy) Seale of Seymour, Melissa Weihe of Commiskey, Kim (Rick) Morgan of Columbus, Jeff Starnes of Columbus, and Ralph Jester of Freetown; great-grandchildren, Dustin (Heather) Hiten of Seymour, Andrew and Joseph (Ada) Hiten of Jonesville, Jake and Paige Morgan of Columbus, Anthony and Chyenne Wray of Columbus, Donnis Seale of Seymour, and Shelby and Michael Jester of Freetown; great-great-grandchildren, Haylie Hiten and Jadein Elijah Huff; and her very best friend, Carol Cutsinger of Columbus.
Mrs. Starnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; children, Pamela Starnes, Jean Scott, and Homer E. Starnes; and a grandson, Richard Wray.
