William P. "Bill" Combest, 84, of Edinburgh, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Columbus.
Mr. Combest retired in 1997 from CUI where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Edinburgh American Legion Post No. 233, Columbus Moose Lodge No.398 and Greenwood VFW Post.
Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Whosoever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive in Edinburgh. Calling will be at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
Born in Champaign, Ill., March 10, 1929, Mr. Combest was the son of William J. Combest and Carrie Holmes Combest.
He is survived by sons, Billy Joe (Barbara) Combest of Columbus and Jackie (Jerry) Combest of Columbus; daughters, Diane (Dale) Shuffitt and Paula (Dale) Hayford, both of Columbus, and Sheila (Mike) Bowling of Brown County; a brother, Joe Combest of Glasgow, Ky.; sisters, Gladys Murrell and Bessie (Billy) Willis, both of Columbia, Ky., Betty (Wayne) Logston and Helen Simpson, both of Glasgow, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his a daughter, Linda Barnsfather; and sisters, Mildred Thomas, Louise Rogers and Edna Young.
