Deborah Ruth “Debbie” Sexton, age 55 of Bisbee, AZ, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013. She was born to Roy Sexton and Naomi Ruth Hiser Sexton on May 9, 1957.
Debbie graduated from Columbus East High School in 1975, and attended Bedford College and University of Phoenix, where she earned degrees in Business Management and Education. At the time of her passing, she was an English Language Development Teacher / Coordinator for Sierra Vista Public Schools in Sierra Vista, AZ.
Debbie was active in fundraising for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. In her spare time, Debbie loved to spend time at the ocean, as well as researching and visiting lighthouses.
Debbie is survived by her beloved children, Jonah Barnes of Sierra Vista, AZ and Lindsay C Barnes of Tucson, AZ, her father, sisters Sandra J. Smith of Columbus IN, Tammy J. Troy of Bloomington IN, nieces and a great niece and nephew. In addition to her loving family, Debbie is survived by her current and former students, whose lives she touched through showing them that they mattered and that their education and well-being was very important to her.
A celebration of Debbie’s life was held on Saturday, May 4 at Jonah’s residence, and was attended by family and close friends.
