Donald “Don” Schilling, age 63, passed away on June 18, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born January 2, 1950, in Evansville, Indiana, he was the son of John and Alberta Halbig Schilling.
Don married his wife, Marsha Hirsch Schilling, on June 19, 1971, in Evansville. They would have celebrated their 42nd anniversary today. He was employed by Parker Hannifin for 30 years and retired in 2010 due to medical reasons. Don was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved golf, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha; children, Michael (Amy Freeman) Schilling of Breckenridge, Colorado, and Amy (David) Bugert of Columbus, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Claire and Evan Bugert. He is also survived by brothers, David (Charlene) Schilling of Evansville, John (Jan) Schilling of Jeffersonville, and William (Judy) Schilling of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel, 3729 25th Street, Columbus, Indiana, with a time of sharing at 7:30 p.m. There will also be calling from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1306 27th Street, Columbus, Indiana, with Father Clem Davis celebrating.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation will follow.
