Lydia Blanch Beesley, 90, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Beesley was born February 17, 1923, in Scipio, Indiana, the daughter of Alfred and Virginia Ramey Carnes. She married Orville James Beesley June 16, 1945, at the Methodist Church parsonage in North Vernon, Indiana. He preceded her in death September 2, 1964.
Mrs. Beesley worked in the meat department and as a cashier at the former Just Rite Supermarket and Tower IGA. She was a member of Scipio United Methodist Church, Zion Baptist Church and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 1941 graduate of Scipio High School and enjoyed playing cards and taking rides through the country. She loved covered bridges and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Pauline (Robert) Vogel of North Vernon, Indiana, and Georgene (Larry Teegardin) Losey of Solsberry, Indiana; two sisters, Margie Rogers of North Vernon, Indiana, and Dorothy (Roger) Weber of Westport, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Amy (Jeff) Waggoner and Jami Brewer, both of North Vernon, Indiana, Yancey (Kim) Vogel of Brownstown, Indiana, Cody (Jessica) Vogel of Seymour, Indiana, Yohansen (Lori) Losey of Franklin, Indiana, Corey Vogel of Irving, Texas, Chatney (Chris) Morey of Suffolk, Virginia, Karey Vogel of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jason Losey of Erie, Colorado; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Letha Waller, and a great-grandchild, Kenneth Brewer.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.
