Richard Salazar, 54, of Westport, passed away at 11:18 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
He was born on July 20, 1958 in San Jose, California to Frank Lerma and Rita Angela (Lopez) Salazar. He was born in California and was a former resident of California, New Mexico and North Vernon. Mr. Salazar had worked for Overhead Door Company in Columbus and the Decatur County Highway Department. He loved the outdoors and working.
He is survived by his daughters, Angie Skinner and Amanda Salazar of North Vernon and Amber Salazar of Westport; his sisters, Mary Lois Simione of Texas, Margaret Salazar of California, Socorro Wimer of Washington, Connie Wimer of Washington, and Yolanda Wimer of California; his brother, Frank Robert Salazar of New Mexico; his grandchildren, Brandi and Ava South, Kayleb Salazar and Maddelyn Ogle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Joseph Salazar; and his sister, Sylvia Wimer.
In following with Richard’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home and Crematory in Westport. A time of visitation will be held with the family one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Leukemia Society.
