Mr. Joseph Alfred “Joe” Ray 76, of Seymour heard the voice of his Lord and Saviour calling to him, “Come thou blessed of My Father and inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the beginning” on Saturday July 6, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Ray was born October 22, 1936 in Bedford, Indiana; he was the son of the late James Floyd and Celia (Devers) Ray.

On June 23, 1956, in Seymour, he married Sally A. Hurd, who survives. Mr. Ray is also survived by his daughter: Lori Leann (David) Miller; and his sons; James Anthony (Joy) Ray and Gregory Lewis (Marianne) Ray; a brother, John A. Ray and sisters, Ula Gray and Yvonne (Ronald) Jones; six grandchildren: Brooke (Amil) Fields, Brittany (Matt) Olson, Logan Ray, Lacey (Mark) Willis, Dylan Miller and Mackenzie Miller and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Joseph “Danny Joe” Ray, who passed away on December 17, 2006; brothers, Rex Ray and Rea Ellis Ray, a sister, Eura Minton.

Joe was a member of the Trinity Pentecostal Chapel in Seymour. Joe’s father was the founding pastor of the Trinity Pentecostal Chapel and Shady Springs Campground, both of which, Joe had a life long dedication.

Joe was a graduate of Seymour High School class of 1954 and went to work at Cummins Engine Company where he retired from. Joe and his wife enjoyed spending time together and antiquing. He had a great love for the Lord, family and friends. In his past-time he enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing.

Funeral service will be conducted by the Reverend Larry Dalton and the Reverend Keith Thompson at 1 p.m. in the Trinity Pentecostal Chapel, 1013 West Laurel St. Seymour on Wednesday July 10, 2013 with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove release.

Family and friends may call at the Voss Chapel on Tuesday July 9, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11 a.m., until the time of the service at the Trinity Pentecostal Chapel.

Memorials may be written to Trinity Pentecostal Chapel or to the Shady Springs Campground through the Voss and Sons Funeral Service.
