Vivian C. Michael, 78, of County Road 700N, passed from this life at 5:11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

A homemaker, Mrs. Michael formerly worked as a custodian for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and traveling and she was an avid bingo and card player.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Columbus, August 27, 1934, Mrs. Michael was the daughter of Jesse and Evelyn L. Jewell Hilderbrand. She married Herbert L. Michael October 4, 1948. He preceded her in death April 22, 2004.

Survivors include her children, Sheila (Rex) Renner and David (Diana) Michael, both of Columbus; grandsons, Scott Renner of Columbus and Jason (Amanda) Renner of Taylorsville; step-granddaughters, Loretta (Terry) Bailey of Jennings County, Tina Sanders of Shelby County, and Fonda Sanders (Billy Burton) of Johnson County; great-grandchildren, Devin, Morgan, Mallory and Gage Renner; four step great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma George and Alice Fields, both of Columbus, Karen (Donnie) Cox of Missouri, Becky (Joe) Shelton and Toni (Dale) Jordan, both of Columbus; brothers, Ralph (Christy) Hilderbrand, and Sam and Billy Hilderbrand, all of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Michael was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Judy; and brothers, Archie, Clarence, Charles, and Johnny Ray.
