Leah R. (Heidenreich) Conrad, 71, of Columbus, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at her home.

Mrs. Conrad was born December 17, 1941, in Washington, IN, the daughter of the late Richard C. and Elva M. (Price) Heidenreich. She married Alan B. Conrad December 22, 1962, in Westphalia, IN, and he survives.

Mrs. Conrad retired from Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in 1997. She taught Home Economics at Northside Middle School and Columbus North High School, was the Dean of Girls at Northside Middle School, served as a Counselor at Columbus North High School and retired as the Pupil Service Advisor at Southside Elementary School. She was also a former Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker.

Mrs. Conrad was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, National Education Association, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association, Bartholomew County Retired Teachers Association and Columbus Board of Realtors Association.

A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Conrad's life will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Asbury United Methodist Church,  1751 27th St., with Rev. Melvin “Bucky” Jordan officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Inurnment will be in the Garden of Christus Columbarium at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Asbury United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Myers-Reed Chapel.

Surviving with her husband of 50 years are two daughters, Camela Sprong and Alysa Conrad, both of Columbus; four grandchildren, Abigayle Sprong, Kristina (Matt) Davis and Aaron Sprong, all of Columbus, and Connor Gossett of West Kittanning, PA.; and a great-granddaughter, Natalee Davis of Columbus.
