Sara L. Crippen, 72, of Woodland Parkway, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Crippen was former co-owner of Hoosier Sporting Goods and a former elementary school teacher in Columbus and Speedway. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Delta Zeta Sorority.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Peggy L. Casteel and Scott Hill officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or First Presbyterian Church.

Born in Martinsville, July 19, 1940, Mrs. Crippen was the daughter of Charles and Mary Melton Abbott. She married Herschel L. Crippen on August 22, 1965.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Tim B. (Laura Jordan) Crippen of Portland, OR; a brother, James R. (Roseanne) Abbott of Columbus; granddaughter, Louisa Crippen of Portland; and a cousin, Mary June (Gene) Gurthet of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
