James A. Compton, 81, of Smith Street, died and went to be with his Lord July 16, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Jim worked at Arvin Industries for 43 years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Carolyn J. Compton; his brother, Hearl Compton; sisters, Sophia Henderson, Rosie (Elmer) Mayes, Dee (Don) Osborne, Leo Bartley and Nordina (Mike) Wilkins; sons, James (Nanette) Compton, Jeffrey (Kerry) Compton, Jerry (Linda) Compton and Janita (Delvin) Roberts; grandchildren, Michael (Kari) Compton, Sara (Cody) Maddox, Daniel (Amanda) Roberts, Alan Roberts, Chrystal Compton, and Amber (Tom) Perez; and nine great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by a son, his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at The Rock Free Methodist Church July 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Brian Buterbaugh officiating. Calling will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
