Hubert Earl Baker, 83, of Columbus, died Monday, July 16, 2013 at his home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Jason McCort officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation or RSD Foundation.
Mr. Baker was born Oct. 25, 1929 in Columbus, the son of Milen and Viola Crider Baker. He married Jennie "Betty" E. Burris July 14, 1954 in Scipio. She preceded him in death Feb. 24, 2006.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Golden Foundry.
Mr. Bakers was a member of Scooters Alumni. He loved fishing, NASCAR and IU basketball.
Survivors include daughters, Angie (Aaron) Ruddick of Columbus and Dianne (Bill) Bolden of North Vernon; a sister, Kathleen Gannon of Pueblo West, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Charles E. Baker; and a sister, Carmelita Denny.
