A. Phyllis Anderson, 94, of Columbus, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Four Seasons Health Center.
Mrs. Anderson was born March 5, 1919, in Decatur County, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (Brown) Stott, was raised in the Westport area and moved to Columbus in 1987. She co-owned and operated Anderson Grocery in Westport for 15 years, was a member of Parkside Baptist Church, and a former member of Westport Baptist Church and Dupont Baptist Church. She served as secretary at Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp for several years.
She married Gerald V. "Sport" Anderson in Westport November 21, 1936. He preceded her in death September 11, 1973.
Survivors include her children, Donna (James) Johnson of Greensburg, Karen (Jerry) McCullough and Gerald "Jerry" (Sue) Anderson of Columbus; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jessie, Gertrude, Verl, Gladys, Mary and Dorothy; and brothers, Paul, Chris and Ben Stott.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Westport Baptist Church Building Fund.
