Harry E. Brooks Jr., 90, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.
In 1945, Mr. Brooks earned a bachelor's degree from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. A retired minister, he had served churches in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and West Virginia. He was a member of East Columbus Christian Church.
A sports enthusiast, Mr. Brooks enjoyed IU basketball and squirrel hunting. He also was an avid reader.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Ron Bridgewater officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to East Columbus Christian Church.

Born in Columbus September 22, 1922, Mr. Brooks was the son of Harry E. Brooks Sr. and Grace Wagner Brooks. He married Lorene Sweeney September 3, 1944. She preceded him in death May 7, 2010.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Dannette) Brooks of Hudson, Fla., Holly McArthur of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sheila Briles of Columbus; a brother, Robert Brooks of Columbus; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers and a sister.
