Kevin Lynn Deckard, born on February 20, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana, to Louie and Vera Joy Deckard, died at the age of 56 on Friday, July 26, 2013, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska.
Kevin went to Columbus North High School and attended Culver Military Academy. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy and traveled the world. Kevin always loved the outdoors and after his discharge from the Navy settled in Anchorage where he was a longtime resident. He worked for a commercial construction company as a project manager for a new industrial site being built.
Kevin was also an avid Harley motorcycle collector and spent much of his spare time rebuilding classic Harleys. He loved to ride his motorcycle in the wilderness areas of Alaska, telling tales of close encounters with bears.
Because of his love of Alaska, a portion of his ashes will be left there to be scattered over his favorite place of refuge, Big-Bear Lake.
Kevin lost his father, Louie Deckard, just this past May 24th. He is survived by his mother, Joy Deckard; three sisters, Julie Deckard Weiler, Leah Deckard Hallett and Lisa Deanne Stiffler. He is also survived by four nieces, one nephew and five great-nephews.
A private memorial service is planned. Arrangements were made by Hathaway-Myers Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society.
