Robert L. Allman Sr., 83, of Columbus died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013 at his home.
Robert was born on October 1, 1929 in Surprise, Indiana to the late Purtle and Retha H. Allman. He married Marjorie Whitmore in 1987.
Robert was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge and Diesel Workers Union. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1984.
Known as "Hoosier Bob" he enjoyed playing blue grass music on several different instruments he learned to play. Robert enjoyed and trusted in driving Ford vehicles and loved spending time with his family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Fred Allman officiating.
Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Monday.
A private family burial will take place at Mann Turman Cemetery in Sullivan.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marjorie Allman; children, Robert Lee Allman Jr. of Scipio, Diane Erwin of Plainfield, and Guy (Lisa) Grey of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Graham, Tamara Stevenson, Eli Erwin, Tina Lanik, Chloe Grey, Brandon and Alex Kennedy; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Allman of Norman, and Fred Allman of Garden City; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Allman; and a sister-in-law, Jannes Allman.
