Alton L. Cross, 63, of Columbus, died at 7:18 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Cross retired after 38 years at Cummins Engine Company where he was a line supervisor. He was associated with Midway Assembly.
An artist, he liked to paint and draw and also loved fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. Virl L. Murray officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Born in Moss, Tenn., Oct. 31, 1949, Mr. Cross was the son of Carlie Tom and Virgie L. Green Cross. He married Vickie E. Bryant July 26, 1969, in Columbus. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Mellissa (Gary) Caffee and Summer (Joshua) Sebastian of Columbus; sisters, Demple (Gene) Trobaugh of Columbus and Wanda (Louis) Littrell of Scipio; brothers, Carlie (Jewell) Cross Jr. of Elizabethtown, Jeffrey (Lori) and Patrick Cross of Columbus; grandchildren, Adam and Sarah Caffee, Jessica Kasey, Hunter Cross, Trevor and Elijah Sebastian; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Aaron Cross; and brothers, Timothy and Joe David Cross.
