Wilma Irene Oaks, 88, of Edinburgh, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Franklin United Methodist Community.
Wilma was a 1942 graduate of Edinburgh High School, was a former employee of Edinburgh Insurance Agency and retired from American States Insurance Co. in Columbus.
She was a member of Old Union United Church of Christ, Edinburgh, and was pianist and organist there more than 60 years. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and traveling to North Carolina to visit friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Old Union Cemetery, with the Rev. J. Kirby Rupp officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Old Union United Church of Christ, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh, IN 46124.
Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
Born in Bartholomew County Nov. 4, 1924, Wilma was the daughter of Forest B. Oaks and Mamie Wright Oaks.
She is survived by a son, Forest "Jack" (Terri) Chastain of Franklin; a grandson, Brian (Kelly) Chastain of Franklin; and nieces, Brenda J. Gosch and Theresa (Stephen) Thomas, both of Edinburgh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rubie M. Gosch; and a niece, Paula Ann Gosch.
