Anthony Brian "Tony" Chavis, 54, of County Road 625S, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at his residence.
Tony was an auto mechanic and loved fishing and hunting.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Schaar officiating. Calling will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Humane Society.
Born in Columbus Dec. 18, 1958, Mr. Chavis was the son of Lewis B. Chavis, who died in 2002, and Frances D. Mansfield Chavis, who died in 2010.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Chavis of Columbus, IN, and Ryan (Amber) Chavis of Terre Haute, IN; a stepdaughter, Autumne Streeval, Columbus, IN; two granddaughters, Elaina Chavis and Stella Streeval; a brother, Terry Chavis, Columbus, IN; a sister, Debra (Bob) Lee, Greenville, SC; four nieces, Jaime, Tiffany, Shana and Jenny; and one nephew, Kenny.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cindy Taylor.
