Emerson Franklin “Frank” Finley, 75, of Seymour, died Monday, September 9, 2013, at 9:30 p.m. at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mr. Finley graduated from Austin High School and was of the Catholic faith. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 after 20 years, during which he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He moved to Jackson County in 1996 and had previously lived in Bartholomew County.
He was born on November 7, 1937, in Scottsburg, the son of Earl Edward Finley and Maymie Cole Finley. On July 26, 1996, he married Connie Wheeler, in Columbus. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Angie Davies of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michael Finley (Lora) of Littleton, Colorado, and Sandy Schmidt of North Platt, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joe Finley (Dezra) of Franklin, Roy Finley (Wanda) of Taylorsville, Kevin Poore of Seymour, and Raymond Finley (Dorothy) of Morgantown; one sister, Sue Kincaid (Bob) of Franklin; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Walker of Crothersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Finley; a brother, Edison Ray Finley; and a sister, Juanita Walker.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia, with Michael Hogg officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until service time Friday. Military graveside rites and burial will follow at Vallonia Cemetery.
