Mr. Oran Lee “Porky” Wilson, 71, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Schneck Medical Center.
Born March 14, 1942, in Brownstown, he was the son of Virgil and Ruth (Thompson) Wilson. On July 12, 1986, in Seymour, he married Sharon (Gladden) Barger, who survives.
Porky was a member of Peter’s Switch Nazarene Church in Seymour and American Legion Post No. 89. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Arvin Industries after 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. After his retirement he enjoyed working on construction, cars and campers with his brother.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Barbara Lucas, Traci (Tom) Allman, Beth (Dale) Alexander, Troy (Julia) Wilson, Tony (Kanina) Bullard, Paul (Debbie) Vice, and Patrick (Amy) Barger; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Rollins and Claudine Bowers and brothers Walter Wilson and Carl Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Hilda Marcott, Sally Lucas and Mary Dollarhyde; and three brothers, Dale, Donnie and Loran Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Monday, September 16, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Keith Ross officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour. There also will be a Voss Dove release.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
