Ruthie Stillions Gray, 86, passed away Sept. 20, 2013 at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, Indiana. She was born April 1, 1927 in Lawrence County to the late William Jacob and Onie (Covey) Stillions. She was the beloved wife of the late Enoch Russell Gray, Jr.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Calvin, Willie and Harley Stillions; and a sister, Izilla Lemon.
She graduated from Marshal Township High School in Bedford, Indiana in 1945. She served as Superintendent of the Owen County Home for 20 years. She was a member of the American College of Nursing Home Administrators, a licensed health facility administrator, a practical nurse, and a past member of the Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Taylor Gray of California; son, E.R. Gray (Gloria Curry) of Columbus; daughter, Beverly (Max) Hahn of Martinsville; grandchildren, Misty (John) Collier of Columbus, Nathan (Shannon) Gray of Columbus, Stephanie (Eric) Swedberg of Indianapolis, Amber (Chris) Carter of Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Michel Collier, Ava Collier, Lillian Gray, Zuri Carter, Gabe Kleinhenz, and many nieces and nephews.
She was a role model and inspiration to us all. She always had an unwavering love and affection for her family. Her children and grandchildren were always a source of intense pride and gratification; she loved them and their family beyond measure. Her memory will always remain with her family as the most affectionate, caring and loving mother and grandmother in the world.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Pastor David Warren will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
