Ellen Louise Youngman, 96, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:39 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Youngman was born on February 12, 1917 in Jennings County, the daughter of Joseph William and Mary Belle McGinty Craig. She married Francis Youngman November 4, 1933. He preceded her in death August 5, 1993.
Mrs. Youngman worked as a DST for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 12 years, retiring in 1980. She previously worked for the former Regal Rugs Factory in North Vernon. She formerly attended North Vernon Wesleyan Church and attended the Spirit of Life Church in North Vernon.
She was a member of North Vernon Home Economics Club since 1945, Jennings County Glee Club where she had performed in several states, the Rose Bowl and at Purdue University. She enjoyed music, singing, playing piano, quilting, sewing, yard work and traveling.
Survivors include her children, William Francis Youngman of Sebring, Florida, Mary Ellen (John, Jr.) Booher, of Moore Haven, Florida and Judith (David) Winget of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren, Kenneth (Kathleen) Youngman and Dale (Becky) Youngman both of Homestead, Florida, Jerry Youngman of California, Thomas Youngman and Rena’ (John Mark) Seiler both of Florida, John (Pam) Booher, III and Joseph (Michelle) Booher both of Sellersburg, and Brian Wilkerson of North Vernon; twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Hugh, Amos, Paul, Clarence and Ralph Craig; and two sisters, Aletha Craig Orr and Esther Craig Karweik
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Revs. David Winget and John Booher officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Monday from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until time of service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.
