Carolyn Sheets, 60, of Columbus went to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 28, 2013, while at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Carolyn was born December 11, 1952, in Franklin, to Albert Sheets Jr. and Beulah Pennington Sheets.
She enjoyed being with family and friends.
A member of Asbury United Methodist Church since 1961, she was active in church affairs, including the Women's Salad Luncheon, and served three terms on the board of trustees.
As a teenager, she was active in the Methodist Youth Fellowship and was the first teen to light Christ candle in the new sanctuary.
Carolyn was a 1971 graduate of Columbus High School. She received a bachelor in business administration degree from Northwood Institute, spending the first three years at the Northwood of Indiana campus at West Baden and the final year at the Midland, Michigan campus.Active in student government, she was freshman class president and student body secretary.She was the first female to serve as student body president.
She is survived by her mother, Beulah Sheets of Columbus; brother, Richard (Pam) Sheets of Fishers; a nephew Shawn Sheets of Columbus; a niece, Shannon Sheets of Fishers; a great-nephew, Riley Barabas and a great-niece, Paige Barabas both of Fishers.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dave Blystone and Paul Johnson officiating.
Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church of Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert Sheets Jr.
