Brooks Andrew Spurgeon, 31, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 7:12 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mr. Spurgeon was born July 11, 1982, the son of Robin Spurgeon and the late Brenda Hall Spurgeon. He married Amanda Clarkson July 26, 2003, in North Vernon, Indiana. She survives.
He worked as a diesel tech for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Seymour, Indiana, for four months and had previously worked for Travel Center of America as a diesel tech for 10 years. He was a 2000 graduate of Jennings County High School and 2003 graduate of the University of Northwestern Ohio with a degree as an auto and diesel technician. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on a 1970 Nova, family time, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Brendan Spurgeon, and a daughter, Ruby Spurgeon, both of North Vernon, Indiana; his father and stepmother, Robin and Angela Spurgeon of North Vernon, Indiana; his brother, Steven (Ashley) Spurgeon of North Vernon, Indiana; a sister, Kristy (Jason) Smallwood of North Vernon, Indiana; his grandparents, Harold Spurgeon of North Vernon, Indiana, and Marvin and Ronna Hall of Seymour, Indiana; two stepsisters, Abigayle and Alizabeth Kincaid of North Vernon, Indiana; three nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother.
A celebration motorcycle ride will begin at the North Vernon Moose Lodge on State Road 3 North starting at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, and traveling to Robin and Angie’s home at 6640 W. County Road 300N, North Vernon, Indiana, where a come-and-go celebration of life service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
