Charles A. “Tony” Theders, 73, of Columbus and a former Connersville resident, died Monday, September 30, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
A Connersville native, Tony was the son of Charles A. and Ethelyn Sample Theders, born December 15, 1939. In 1959, he graduated from Connersville High School and later attended auctioneer school in Mason, Iowa. Tony was a member of St. Gabriel Church, Moose Lodge No. 1160 and the Elks Lodge, all of Connersville. He had been employed as a manufacturing engineer at Anchor Tool and Die in Cleveland, Ohio, Hartup Tool and Die in Columbus and Ready Tool and Die in Connersville. For several years, he owned and operated Theders Auction and Realty in Connersville. In his leisure time, Tony enjoyed playing pool and fishing.
Tony is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Fay L. Hinds, whom he married March 24, 1968, in New Castle; two daughters, Christina M. Theders of Godfrey, Illinois, and Tanya Theders King and her husband, Tony, of Camby; two granddaughters, Kimberly Colvin and her husband, Jerry, of Hampton, Virginia, and Morgan King of Camby; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Chloe Colvin; his sister, Nancy William and her husband, Chuck, of Fort Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Lynn Theders; and a brother, John Theders.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with the Rev. Stanley Herber of St. Gabriel Church officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
