David C. Schwantes, 68, of Nineveh, passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday, October 6, 2013, at his home, with his wife by his side.
David was born August 6, 1945, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Ralph H. and Elizabeth Baumann Schwantes. He married Rebecca Ellis December 13, 2003, in Jeffersonville, IN.
A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired from Arvin Industries. He was an avid golfer and a member of Timberlake Golf Course, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
In keeping with David's wishes, cremation is planned. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 until 5 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike.
Memoral contributions may be made to Community Health Hospice.

David is survived by his wife, Rebecca Schwantes; children, Renee Schwantes of Louisville, KY, Steven (Tessa) Schwantes of Davenport, IA, Mark (Lindsey) Schwantes of Louisville, KY, and Christopher (Cassandra) Schwantes of Athens, TX; a stepson, Matthew Lewellen of Columbus; sisters, Nancy Schultheis of Lincoln, NE, and Sue Dixon of Clarksville, IN; grandchildren, Nate, Kirsten, Chelsey, Layla and Kari Schwantes; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Todd Schwantes.
