James D. McNeill, 83, of Hartsville, died at 8:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Mr. McNeill, a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from AT&T after many years as a systems installer. He was a very active member of Westport Christian Church and a former elder at Waynesburg Christian Church. He was an avid people person and enjoyed fixing anything.
Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with Mike Bartlett officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday. Cremation will follow the service.

Born in East Chicago June 12, 1930, Mr. McNeill was the son of Joseph and Nancy Randolph McNeill. He married Helen Grace Kuhlman Dec. 12, 1953, in Chicago. She preceded him in death March 26, 2011.
Survivors include daughters, Lynn Kane of Beavercreek, OH, Doria (Paul) Leggat of Ancaster, Ontario, and Janice D. Runyon of Hartsville; a son, Joseph McNeill of Bloomington; grandchildren, Holly (Rob) Cronin of Littleton, CO, Joshua Porter of Kettering, OH, Jason, Madison and Brooke Leggat of Ancaster, Ontario, Augustus Runyon of North Vernon and Corina Runyon of Greensburg; and great-grandchildren, Abigail and James Cronin of Littleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, and two brothers.
