Helen Francis Hassfurder, 98, of Pearl Street, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her home.
Helen enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching hummingbirds and having her nails done. She also enjoyed flowers, especially growing irises at her home throughout her life.
Helen was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star and loved spending time with her family and being on the water in Madison.
Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Karnes officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Hook United Methodist Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born in Shelbyville Jan. 3, 1915, Helen was the daughter of Noble Scott Trotter and Sarah Ethel Burney Trotter. She married Frances Elmore Hassfurder Sept. 2, 1949, in Brownstown. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1999.
She is survived by sons, George W. (Pamela) Hassfurder of Elizabethtown, IN, Joseph A. Hassfurder of Columbus, IN, and Riley Elmore Hasfurder of Kenturky; daughters, Mary Dawn (Steve) Wilson of Columbus, IN, Francis Tucker of KY, and Judy Mischler of Kentucky; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
