Mr. Lester Albert William Enzinger, 84, of Columbus, passed away 11:30 p.m., on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Covered Bridge Health Care Campus in Seymour.
He was born on September 10, 1929, in Bartholomew County, the son of the late Otto and Matilda (Bode) Enzinger.
On July 22, 1962 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek, he married Shirley J. (Harrell) Enzinger. She passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012.
Lester was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He graduated in 1947 from Columbus High School. After graduation, he went to work for Cummins Engine Company, where he retired after 39 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, woodworking, and playing cards. Lester enjoyed music, and in his younger years he could play both the piano and guitar. He liked to play for family and friends at gatherings. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Enzinger leaves behind his children, Luanne (Tim) Bryant, Rex (Kim) Enzinger, and Nancy (Tom) Kitterman; grandchildren, Erin Enzinger, Samantha Enzinger, and Lance Kitterman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Velma Schroer Enzinger; the mother of his children, Shirley Harrell Enzinger; a brother, Milton Enzinger; and sisters, Opal Enzinger Ordstadt Hoffmeier,and Hulda Enzinger Eckelman.
Funeral service will be conducted by Voss Funeral Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek, on Wednesday, October 16, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Ed Keinath officiating.
Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel on Tuesday October 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday, October 16, after 9 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, White Creek.
Family ask that condolences may be sent to the family through Voss Funeral Service and memorials may be written to the St. John’s Building Fund in lieu of flowers through Voss Funeral Service, Seymour.
