Marcella E. "Betty" Powers, 80, of Columbus, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at her home.
Betty had been employed by Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation as a custodian at Rockcreek School for 31 years. She was a member of Garden City Church of Christ.
Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday. Burial will be at Kingston Cemetery, northeast of Greensburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to Garden City Church of Christ or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Batesville Oct. 30, 1932, Betty was the daughter of Martin L. and Thelma M. Shoopman Alexander. She married George L. Powers Jan. 21, 1950, in Greensburg. He preceded her in death Aug. 4, 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean (Jerry) Abner of Columbus; a son, Tom (fiancée Verna Mize) Powers of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Margaret (Gene) Dance of Greensburg; a brother-in-law, Gerald (Phyllis) Powers of Shelbyville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren,
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Dave and Russell Wagner; and a stepbrother, Woody Alexander.
