Kimberly Diane Smith, 49, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at her home, surrounded by friends and family. Her long battle with cancer is over.
Diane was born on October 26, 1963, to Charles and Barbara England Sanders. She married Steve Smith on July 27, 1985, and they raised their family in Columbus. Diane spent many years of her life caring for children: her own, those in her home day-care, and her many nieces and nephews. All of the children fondly call her "Nana." Diane was very close to her mother, and they enjoyed talking, shopping, and caring for children together.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Larry Fields officiating. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with a reception following at the home of Danny and Sarah Sanders.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Online Condolences may be sent to the Smith family at www.barkesweaverglick.com
Diane is survived by her parents, Charles and Barbara Sanders; her husband, Steve Smith; children, Kristy (Brandon) Wright, Danielle (Jeff) Rohm, and Lee Smith; four grandchildren she loved dearly, Stephanie, Lucy, James, and Dane; brothers, Tony, Jack, and Danny; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Diane was a wonderful mother, sister, and daughter, and we will miss her very much.
