Obituary: Willard Wischmeier, Seymour

Willard Wischmeier, 81, of Seymour, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at his residence.

He was former owner of Wischmeier Grave Services and was a retired farmer. A lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Sauers, he was a member of Sauers Men's Club and Sauers C Dartball Team and had been an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau since 1952. He loved being with his family, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, fishing, traveling and riding his golf cart. He took great pride in maintaining the cemeteries he was involved with.

Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Calling will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown, and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, or St. John's Lutheran School, Sauers.

Born in Seymour Feb. 22, 1932, Mr. Wischmeier was the son of Martin and Lena Surenkamp Wischmeier. He married Marcella Hackman Feb. 4, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wegan.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dwight (Robin) Wischmeier of Seymour; daughters, DeAnn (Doug) Maxie and Danielle (Charlie) Murphy, both of Seymour; a daughter-in-law, Linda (David) Isom of Seymour; a brother, Melvin (Emy Lou) Wischmeier of Seymour; grandchildren, Shawn (Kelly) Wischmeier, Randi Wischmeier, Heather (Tony) Henson, Adam Wischmeier, Amber Wischmeier, Alex Wischmeier (Megan Hall), Jennifer Speck, Michael Maxie (Mahala Wheeler), Mitchell Maxie, Melissa Maxie, Mark Maxie (Alison Carpenter), Telissa Murphy, Erin Murphy and Andrew Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Sydnee, Tristan, Whitley, Chaz, Nichole, David, Steven, Carter, Ethan, Austin, Jordyn, Carter and Dylan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Wischmeier; a grandson, Nicholas D. Wischmeier; a brother, Erwin Wischmeier; and two sisters, Wilma Stuckwisch and Ella Benter.
