L. Wayne Petty, 77, of Franklin, formerly of Edinburgh, died at 6:56 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 3, 1936, the son of the late Ardia A. and Maysel J Heeb Petty. He married Florence G. Kelley on April 15, 1962, and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2013.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Wayne (Diana) Petty of Indianapolis; a daughter, Kimberly Sue (Carlos) Valera of Sugarland, Texas; grandchildren, Gabrielle D. and Zachary Wayne Petty, both of Indianapolis; a brother, David L. Petty of Whiteland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a 1963 graduate of Butler University, and was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Edinburgh Masonic Lodge #100, and Order of the Eastern Star #438 in Franklin. He was an an accountant and auditor with the Indiana State Board of Tax Commissioners, and he enjoyed reading and computers.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at Kresge Chapel at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin with the Rev. Kevin Reed officiating. Calling will be from 4 p.m. until service time today at the chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shepard Community Center, 4107 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46203. Arrangements were made by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.
