Arnold D. Heck, 76, of Daugherty Street, died at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Heck retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1995 after 37 years of service. He was former manager of Hamilton Ice Center and had been a clerk in the electronics department at the eastside Walmart. He enjoyed membership at Columbus Free Methodist Church, Brown County Art Gallery, and Mill Race Center where he attended art classes. His hobbies included painting, coin collecting, and gardening.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Jim Pursley officiating. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children, Bartholomew County Humane Society, the Alzheimer's Association, or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Columbus October 24, 1937, Mr. Heck was the son of Daniel and Florence Whitehorn Heck. He married Judith A. Whittington December 13, 1958. She preceded him in death July 30, 2007.
Mr. Heck is survived by his son, Doug Heck of Columbus; grandchildren, Shane and Kayla Heck and Devin Smith, all of Columbus; a brother, Allen (Alice) Heck of Taylorsville; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Jerry) Johnson of Hudson, FL; a brother-in-law, Tom Whittington of Tampa, FL; several nieces and nephews; and close friends, Walt and Georgeann Peace of Columbus.
Mr. Heck was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Betty Wilson, Alma Peak, Pauline Caldwell, Janet Pedigo, and Marilyn Nichols; a brother, Steve Heck; and his special friend, his dog, Belle.
