Lillian Agnes (Wells) Murphy, 96, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Scott Villa Living Center. She was born on May 28, 1917, in Orange County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Samuel Emmett and Cora Isabelle (Barrett) Wells.
Lillian was a homemaker and a member of Zoah Christian Church where she served as a teacher for the Nursery Sunday school class for more than 50 years. She was a charter member of Scott Memorial Hospital Guild and was Past President, Vice-President and member of the Maine Ames Ladies Cattle Association.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Murphy, on Aug. 27, 2013; a grandson; a great-grandson; two sisters, Melvina Wells and Lena Bennett; and one brother, Samuel Wells.
Survivors include three sons, Robert S. Murphy of Franklin, Indiana, Michael P. Murphy and his wife Annette and Teddy D. Murphy and his wife Melanie, all of Scottsburg, Indiana; four daughters, Regina Pastrick and her husband George of Columbus, Indiana, Sonja Baldridge and her husband Kenneth of Louisville, Kentucky, Nancy Swank and Linda Murphy, both of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Dorothy Nicholas of Scottsburg, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Zoah Christian Church or Scott Memorial Hospital Guild.
