George Stilabower, 81, of Franklin, died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Edinburgh, October 10, 1932, the son of the late Lawrence H. and Mary Fay Wright Stilabower. He married Mary Ellen Freeman on September 2, 1956, and she survives.
He was a 1950 graduate of Edinburgh High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, and was also a member of the Franklin Kiwanis Club, the Franklin Elk's Club, and the Franklin American Legion Post #205. He retired from L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis, after working in sales for 21 years, and had formerly worked in sales at Standard Oil Company for 10 years.
In addition to his wife, George is also survived by a son, George Freeman Stilabower of New York, N.Y.; and daughters, Elizabeth Ellen (Bill) Booth of Massillon, Ohio, and Stacie Anne Hindman of Mufreesboro, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jack Stilabower; and a sister, Martha Alice Stilabower.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home with the Rev. John Eley officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
