Elsie M. Champion, 98, of Columbus, died at 9:24 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Elsie retired from the surgery department at Columbus Regional Hospital and was formerly employed at C.P. Electronics. After retiring, she became a Pink Lady at the Hospital.
She enjoyed making ceramic decorations and quilting baby blankets for the Birthing Center and was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Regional Hospital Volunteers or Love Chapel Food Bank.

Born in Mount Healthy on March 12, 1915, Elsie was the daughter of Henry and Susan Thompson Baute. She married Paul A. Champion on March 21, 1936. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1989.
Survivors include her children, E. Lynn ( Judith) Champion of Indianapolis and Saundra Whipker of Columbus; grandchildren, Stephen (Melanie) Champion, Cathy (Craig) Yeley, Julie (Andy) Clemins, Heather (Mark) Urschel and Juli (Michael) Carter; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Ralph and Ishmaul Baute; and sisters, Esther Hardin and Gladys Hobson.
