William W. “Bill” Webb Jr., 61, of North Vernon, passed away at his home after a lengthy battle with melanoma at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013. Mr. Webb was born on July 27, 1952 in Seymour, the son of William W. Webb Sr. of North Vernon and the late Lula Belle Zornes Webb. Mr. Webb married Susan Monday on September 16, 1989 in Carrollton, Kentucky and she survives.
Mr. Webb was a 1970 graduate of Jennings County High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict from 1971 to 1973. Mr. Webb was a member of AmVets Post #7 in North Vernon and a former member of the Studebaker Club of America. Mr. Webb was employed at Reliance Electric for 20 years, and he enjoyed gardening, working on old cars, spending time with his family, and was a strong supporter of the Democrat party.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; his father, William W. Webb Sr., both of North Vernon; his son, Billy Gene Webb of Ft. Collins, Colo.; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Andrew) Hooker of North Vernon; a brother, Wesley David (Patti) Webb; and a sister, Vicki Webb, both of North Vernon. Also surviving are three grandchildren, A.J. Hooker, Cloe Sue Hooker, and Addison Nicole Hooker, all of North Vernon.
Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Belle Zornes Webb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home & Cremation Services and from noon until service time on Wednesday. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery with full military graveside honors by Matt Hester V.F.W. Post #2021.
Memorials may be given to the Jennings County Democrat Party through the funeral home.
