James William Sidebottom III, 52, of Columbus, died at 11:58 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Impatient Facility.
The funeral will be at 1p.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Calling will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon until service time Monday. Burial will be at Spearsville Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Spearsville.
James drove a semi for 7-K Farms and Bartholomew County Beverage and was a self-employed core buyer. He was a member of Taylorsville First United Methodist Church and the German Township Volunteer Fire Department.
He enjoyed tinkering with cars, NASCAR, dirt track racing, fishing camping and any outdoor activity.
James was born May 19, 1961 in Trafalgar, the son of James William Sidebottom Jr. and Ella Mae Smith Sidebottom.
Survivors include his companion, Patricia Ann Sidebottom; sons, James W. Sidebottom IV of Columbus and Joshua Chad Sidebottom of Edinburgh; a daughter, Kristy Ann ( Timothy W. Jr.) Hill of Columbus; his father, James William Sidebottom, Jr. of Indianapolis; brothers, Rodney (Shelia) Sidebottom of Taylorsville, KY, William Sidebottom of Franklin and John (Bev) Day of Brown County; sisters, Debbie (Frank) Oliver and Tina ( Jimmy Burnett) Pheral, both of Edinburgh, and Jacqualine (Joe) Ballinger of Bloomfield, KY; grandchildren, Dylan, Jared, William, Abraham, Aliana, Haleigh, Mackenzie, Skyler and Gage; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his mother; stepfather, Jackson Day; a grandmother, Willie Mae Smith; nephews, Jason (Day) Garner and Michael Layman, Jr.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Center of Riley Children's Hospital or Peyton Manning's Children's Hospital at St. Vincent's.
