Mary Esther Proctor, 78, of Westport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 12 a.m. at her residence.
She was born July 7, 1935 in Brewersville to Luther and Elma (Pool) Roberson. She was raised in the Brewersville and Vernon area. She moved to Westport in 1963 and resided here until 1985. She resided in Stanton, Michigan from 1985 until 1998. She moved back to Westport in 1998 and has resided here since.
She attended Vernon High School, was a homemaker and former restaurant manager at Carafeeney’s Ice Cream Café & Rumney’s in Stanton, Michigan. She was a member of the Westport Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and taking care of others.
She married William E. Proctor on April 5, 1953 in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on December 12, 2004.
She is survived by daughters, Anita Kay (Ron) Reeves of Columbus, Rita F. (David) Padgett of Westport and Debbie L. (Jason) Wright of Letts; brothers, Albert (Helen) Roberson and Tom (Carol) Roberson both of North Vernon, and John (Jane) Roberson of Vernon; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters, Luzerna Hutchison, Alice Coombs, Edna M. Roberson and Dorothy Bowerly; and brothers, Bobby and Wayne Roberson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with the Rev. David Scaggs and the Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
