Cora Marie Crawley, 87, of Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Aspen Place Health Campus. Cora was born on April 17, 1926, in Decatur County, the daughter of Gilbert and Opal McCullough-Heaton. She married Melvin Vollney Crawley in Carthage on April 16, 1946, and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1973.
Cora was a 1944 graduate of Burney High School. She worked at Racine Shirt Company and the TG & Y of Greensburg for 14 years, until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Homemakers Club in Decatur & Shelby counties.
Survivors include her son, Melvin Crawley of Columbus; her daughter, Mary Jane (Richard) Kunz of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Shell of Goshen, Angela Garriott of Lafayette, Camron Crawley of Columbus, Cadie (Kip) Werden of Franklin and Michael (Marci) Kunz of Greensburg; and eight great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Marie and Madelyn Garriott, Elijah and Lidea Shell, Gracie and Karlie Werden, and Ella Cora and Mason Kunz.
She was also preceded in death by her parents on December 1 and 8 in 1979.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg. Cora’s funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
