Fred C. Newland, 50, of West County Road 450S, passed away at 8:54 a.m. Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Fred was born on August 4, 1963, in Lancaster, Kentucky. He married Kimberly J. Baker on July 3, 2004, in Tennessee.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he was employed at Bimbo Bakery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR, and was active in the Local Union No. 132. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating. Family and friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Christiansburg Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis.

Fred is survived by his wife, Kimberly J. Baker-Newland; children, Travis, Dustin, and Colton Newland, all of Columbus; his mother, Christine Hubble Branum of Columbus; a brother, Walter (Cheryl) Branum of Columbus; a sister, Crystal (Kenny) King of Columbus; a stepsister, Rita Brodfuehrer of Columbus; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stan and Paula Kirts of Columbus; brothers-in-law, Daniel (Stephanie) Baker and family, and Skyler Kirts and family; and several nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his stepfather, James H. Branum.
