Elaine E. Herron, 72, of North Vernon, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Friday, December 13, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon. The Rev. Jonathan Meyer will officiate. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon, with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m.
Born February 28, 1941, in Greensburg, Elaine was the daughter of Richard and Leona Ortman Davis. She married Gary Herron November 17, 1984. He preceded her in death in June of 1995.
Elaine retired from Cummins Inc. where she worked as a materials specialist. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed coaching softball, playing golf, cards, and bowling.
She is survived by her mother, Leona Ortman Davis Brewer of Columbus; daughters, Teresa (Dennis) Gholson of North Vernon, and Lisa (Doug) Caseltine of Columbus; one sister, Kathy (Nathan) Garrett of Columbus; and three grandchildren, Ashley (Braden) Grider, Amber Monday, and Brooke O’Mara.
She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
